Stella, this is a fabulous piece. As a retired paraprofessional, though not a parent, I can resonate with this. I worked with children all day, and some days were more challenging than others. But I agree we just need to show up and show our love and care for our children, that is what they are mostly crying out for when they are acting out. That and children also need solid structure. I truly enjoyed reading this. Very well done, friend. Blessings. :):)

Oh wow. Working closely with children day in and day out, you must have seen firsthand just how deeply they crave love, connection, and structure, especially on those harder days. Thank you for reading and for this thoughtful encouragement.

You are very welcome Ms. Stella.

Oh yes I worked for the School District of Philadelphia for twenty years so I had seen a lot of sadness.

Children definitely need structure and connection.

This was a wonderful post.

Thanks again for sharing.

Blessings. :) :)

so true! It’s our job to help them find their safe/secure place.

Absolutely. I used to think it was solely about “fixing” the behavior. Now, I realize it’s about showing them they’re still safe even when everything feels messy.

I love the empathetic approach to parenting that you present. I am beginning to understand that most misunderstandings in relationships come down to miscommunication or lashing out. I love how you encourage connection and understanding versus matching energies.

Thank you, Amber! So often, connection and understanding can soften even the toughest moments—breaking the cycle of reacting with the same energy. It’s amazing how much healing begins when we choose empathy over escalation.
