Defining Success on My Own Terms
Overcoming Skepticism with Self-Determination
Welcome to this week's edition of Becoming Together!
Today, I’m focusing on two significant areas that have shaped my journey so far. Let’s dive in!
I Am Who I Am
One of my university lecturers once told me I wouldn’t achieve a First Class because I wasn’t "serious" enough.
His definition of serious:
Someone who was always buried in books, rarely engaging in anything outside academics, and completely devoid of any personal interests or hobbies.
His comment stung, especially since I was close to a First Class CGPA before he made that statement.
Rather than letting his words define me, I used them as motivation. I was determined to prove him wrong while staying true to myself.
And guess what?
I did it. I achieved that First Class CGPA, not by conforming to someone else’s definition of being “serious,” but by embracing my uniqueness.
That experience taught me a valuable lesson:
I am who I am, and that’s more than enough. Our unique gifts are innate and should never be diminished by others' opinions.
My story highlights the power of resilience and self-belief.
It underscores the importance of recognizing and valuing one’s individuality.
As you reflect on this, I encourage you to stay true to yourself and your unique path.
Trust your instincts and define your journey by your standards and values.
Your uniqueness is your strength—own it, celebrate it, and let it guide you to your version of success.
School's Out, But Learning Stays
I did a thing!!!
My book, "Family Time Unplugged: Play, Connect, Explore” is now available.
I firmly believe that parents are the most important teachers in a child's life. Our influence is unmatched, and it's a responsibility and a privilege we should wholeheartedly embrace.
With this belief at my core, I began to write.
My dedication to fostering continuous learning led me to create something meaningful for families.
Of course, the path was filled with challenges like every noble adventure.
The behind-the-scenes was laced with frustrations, anxiety, and countless obstacles.
But as every great story goes, these hurdles only made the achievement more rewarding.
And here we are.
It was Nelson Mandela who said,
"It always seems impossible until it’s done."
This quote resonates deeply.
Despite the moments of doubt and the challenges, the book is here, ready to make a difference in the lives of families everywhere.
We are not resting on our oars; however. We remain committed to improving and continually evolving.
In "Family Time Unplugged: Play, Connect, Explore” I share practical experiences and proven methods to help parents become more resourceful with time spent with their children.
The book covers planning a purposeful break, skill-building adventures, creating heartfelt moments, themed learning, time management and lots more.
It’s designed to be usable any time—school weekdays, weekends, short breaks and summer holidays.
The emphasis is on continuous learning and creative ways to blend fun and education all year round, both in and out of school.
As a special thank you to my amazing subscribers, the book is available at 30% off.
If you haven’t ordered your copy yet, now’s the perfect time!
Final Thoughts
My dear reader, remember these:
You are who you are, and that’s more than enough.
Your quirks, passions and doodles are all part of the magical concoction that makes you extraordinary.
Let no one diminish your gifts with their raised eyebrows or outdated definitions.
Keep pushing towards your dreams, no matter the obstacles.
Thank you for being a part of this incredible community.
Let’s continue to support and uplift each other as we navigate this beautiful thing called life.

Love it Stella. I am sure there are a bunch of first-person stories you will unveil soon 😉
By the way, do you know if that teacher was aware that out of the 5000+ years of human history, only 10% made books available to commoners?
If that were a criteria, how would we have had all the amazing accomplishments before Gutenberg?
